The Floridian – Chicago to Miami Concept Poster A vibrant, vintage-inspired travel poster celebrating the return of The Floridian, Amtrak's direct rail link between the Midwest and the Sunshine State.

The artwork features a sleek locomotive in a bold orange and purple livery, winding through a dreamlike Everglades landscape. Under a swirling, "stained-glass" sun, the scene is populated by iconic Florida wildlife, including an alligator and a pair of pink flamingos, evoking the classic "See America" travel advertisements of the mid-20th century.

Historical Information

While the art style is a nod to the past, The Floridian is a very modern addition to the Amtrak network. Launched on November 10, 2024, the route was created as a temporary merger of two storied lines: the Capitol Limited (Chicago to Washington, D.C.) and the Silver Star (New York to Miami).

The Original Route: Amtrak previously operated a train named The Floridian from 1971 to 1979, which took a more inland route through Nashville and Birmingham.

The 2024 Rebirth: The current iteration was established to maintain service during the East River Tunnel Rehabilitation Project in New York City. By combining the routes, Amtrak created a seamless "one-seat ride" from Chicago to Miami, covering 46 stops over a roughly 47-hour journey.

Legacy: This poster captures the romanticism of this 1,100-mile journey, which traverses 11 states and connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic coast.
